The place serves large portions and for affordable rates. kind owner. Keep it up.

The menu offers freshly offerings from fresh and raw ingredients, not canned or prepared. This place also offers items from the past like bananas foster, while is easy to make, requires individual attention by the chef. The food is tasty and spiced according to the type of dish. I highly recommend it for lunch or breakfast. The only downside is the small parking lot.

They have so much different items on there menu creeps are good . I didn't care for the corn beef hash.

This place is a hole in the wall with outstanding food and quick, friendly and attentive service. Parking is limited but there is side street parking available. Great comfort food.

Always a great place for breakfast. The staff is always friendly and treat you like family. My server today is Camrin and today is her first day as a server. She found out it was my birthday and had the kitchen make me a treat. See the photo of the cherry crepe.

As a former Chef, this quaint little place in downtown Barrington is absolutely phenomenal!

I can't remember how I learned of this gem. I had them bookmarked and also on my calendar. I took the 50 minute excursion and was impressed. Over the years I have driven by and never noticed them.They've been there since the 40's. Pleasant surprise, they smoke their own meats and have a smoker in the parking lot for onsite pig roasts.I had the Ensalada de Pollo. Smoked BBQ pulled chicken on a bed of mixed greens, avocado, black beans, cucumber, pickled onions, tomato, mango salsa and tortilla strips with a drizzle of balsamic reduction dressing. It's an incredible dish.I look forward to a return visit for breakfast. Such a unique interior. If you build a model plane, they'll hang it from the ceiling. Nice to see they have a U shaped counter too.

The Canteen Restaurant is a must stop place if in Barrington. The food was good and very filling. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The way old family restaurants should be. The Darcy Benedict was delicious.

The staff was friendly. The food was better than I expected. This pancake house advertised they were rated the best beef brisket, left me a little skeptical. BUT, once I bit into the brisket sandwich, I agree. The sandwich was delicious.

Great food. Not much to look at but had great food from friendly staff. The Croche Madame was superb. The model planes are very unique.

A great find. Apparently a mainstay in the area and some of the best breakfast food I have had in a long time. If you are a fan of biscuits and gravy then you will fall in love. I actually went with a custom order and they had no troubles. Price is right and the flavor and service more than worthwhile.

Fantastic unassuming diner just south of downtown Barrington. Food is great made to order with large portions. Excellent coffee. I found the wait staff to be extremely enjoyable and very attentive. Sit at the counter if you're there alone.

The Canteen consistently delivers a unique hometown dining experience. The smoked brisket & pork chops (pictured) are delicious. The soup dances in your mouth with each spoonful. Sammie, the cooks, and the rest of the crew give you spot on service. I just love sitting at the counter, as a local resident, chatting with patrons. Simply a great value for breakfast & lunch that's truly hometown cooking!

Expected better quality. Pulled pork was good but a quarter fat blobs, and served on burnt toast. Coleslaw delicious. Fresh cut fries just aren't my thing. Very friendly and accommodating staff, though.

This restaurant is my preferable site. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a superb lunchon, this place comes straightaway to my mind. excellent and varied food and a large menu.helpful staff, and pleasant vibes. In addition to that, the charge is reasonable. I suggest this spot with no doubt. ;

OK. Let me start by the environment. It's crowded and congested seating arrangement and very warm temperature of the restaurant. But it's worth it once you see the fast and efficient service and extremely tasty breakfast. I ordered Portobello Benedict. It was one of the best breakfast I had. Will definitely come again.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this truly hidden gem! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and the setting was very comfortable. Home town feel with food we will not forget! We will become regulars!

A beautiful, local place for pancakes and breakfast food. Airplanes hang from ceiling. Kid friendly.

A must visit if you're in Barrington. The model planes hanging from the ceiling provide a fun atmosphere and the food makes it even better.

This place is my favorite. I go to plenty of restaurants but to this one I go the most. The team is very cordial and the cooking they cook is so good. I am always happy to have a decent dinner in this restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Not a bad spot had the chicken tacos. Good taste, no smoke which was weird. Could've been a bit warmer. Service could be better.

This is one of those places that has absolutely everything on the menu: crepes, omelets, salads, brisket...you name it! It has been there forever and the staff are always so welcoming! Great little gem that I would recommend to anyone!

Great service. The corned beef hash and eggs awesome. The brisket was ok needed salt as it was bland and had some big fat pieces but after salting it was good.

Great little restaurant with 50s movie posters on walls, model airplanes hanging from the ceiling serving great breakfasts and beef brisket entrees. Great service done all with a smile.reasonable price, tasty food. Surface parking lot available

One of the best breakfast places I've been to in my entire life! The food and the service was outstanding! Might be a little pricey but is well worth it. The staff are superb and very welcoming. My wife and I really enjoyed it.
